Multiple CSCEC projects won 2020-2021 China Construction Engineering Luban Prize. Today, we are going to share with you three winners: Zibo Cultural Center, Zhoushan Guanyin Cultural Park and Shenzhen MSU-BIT University.

Zibo Cultural Center

As a large comprehensive public culture building complex in Shandong Province or even China, Zibo Cultural Center took porcelain as its theme and integrated modern culture. With three sides encircled by water, the exterior shape was unique and beautiful and was like a "shamrock" as well as a lotus flower blooming on the surface of water, becoming a core visual point in the entire center. The interior decoration was magnificent with art styles.

The project team innovated 9 key technologies and provided excellent engineering. The top of the hall of the grand theater was a four-corner-point glass cupola of GRG perforated plates with advantages of firm installation, precise assembly and tight seams; the front hall and the resting hall of the music hall were composed of 54 groups of petal arrangements with flat seams and precise joints and curves; and the front hall of the opera house was composed of 18 groups of hollow GRG arrangements in a smooth arc shape with light evenly distributed in detailed parts, making the hall beautiful, impressive and modern.

Guanyin Cultural Park

The project of Guanyin Cultural Park was carried out in Putuo District, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province and presented a cultural park featuring Guanyin and integrating culture experience, art displays, cultural displays and tourism services. The core part of the park was Guanyin Shrine built by CSCEC. As an architectural and cultural landmark in Zhoushan City, the shrine covered a total construction area of 61,900 square meters and the building was 91.9 meters in height.

The project team designed with BIM and VR, developed modern technologies from traditional techniques, applied digital means including reverse scanning, 3D printing and digital-control processing as well as stone carving, masonry building, metal processing and metal installation, realizing effective control of design, production and construction.

The project won more than 20 prizes including the First Prize of BIM Application of China Construction Industry Association, Shanghai Excellent Survey and Design Award, the Golden Award of Excellent Garden in Zhejiang Province, the CSCEC Golden Award of Excellent Engineering, and the Luban Prize.

Shenzhen MSU-BIT University

With a total construction area of 297,000 square meters, the project of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University was located in Longgang District, Shenzhen City. The project integrated Russian traditional architecture styles, modern design means as well as gardens with Chinese factors, perfectly presenting an architectural image under co-operation between China and Russia.

In the process of building the university, CSCEC applied intelligent machines with BIM+MR and 3D scanning technologies, integrated traditional construction techniques and new technologies, machines and methods, performed better functions, and contributed to setting smart engineering examples with good benefits and high qualities.
